Overmax · UI/UX Design
A shop where RC cars look straight out of “Fast & Furious”
UX/UI design for the Overmax shop: RC cars in cinematic shots, a polished product page, a category menu and a quiz that picks the right model.

RC cars in cinematic shots
- Rebellion
- Fun
- Storytelling
Overmax came to us with a clear goal: on the new website, its RC models should look like cars from “Fast & Furious”, not toys off a shelf. From the first screen, visitors should feel they're in the middle of the action, with the thrills included as standard, along with the model.
That's why we show the products as if on a cinema screen: in low shots, in dust thrown up by the wheels, in splashes of water and coloured smoke. A lot happens on the site: a video on the first screen, sliding categories, driving photos on hovering over a tile, numbers and slogans that change as you scroll the product page.
The presentation builds desire, while the shop stays clear. The product page, menu, quiz and comparison tool lead straight to choosing a model.

01Phone first
We presented the concept on the product page, not the home page
Most Overmax customers browse the shop on their phones, and the view that matters most to them is the model page. So we built the first visual concept on the mobile X-Hooligan page, and only then designed the home page and the other views on top of it.
The interactions had to feel modern but be simple to build: horizontal scrolling, in-place screen changes, video and hover, without heavy effects that are hard to carry over into the shop.
02Product page
The product page, the most polished view in the shop
The product page is where the purchase decision happens, so we refined every part of it. We built it around the X-Hooligan: gallery and price at the top, specs in tiles with icons, slogans and numbers that change as you scroll, driving scenes in a horizontal row, specifications in expandable groups, and at the end the kit contents, questions and downloads.

04Find your product
A quiz that picks a model in a few questions
Anyone who doesn't know RC models answers a few questions: where they want to drive, on what terrain and how they rate their skills. Each answer narrows down the list, and at the end only the models that fit remain. The demo below runs on the same logic as overmax.pl.
Questions and recommended models from the quiz on overmax.pl.
05Categories
Five categories, each with its own driving character
On the home page the categories slide past as if on a track: a huge name in the background, the model in the foreground.

07Why Overmax
Four words that open up on their own
The brand's distinguishing features on the home page open in several ways at once: on scroll, on hover and on tap on a phone. We settled on this in a feedback round, because scrolling alone wasn't always enough to make the description readable.
-
Races, off-road adventures and tinkering with your own model. Real experiences instead of yet another screen.
-
Whatever your age and experience. “Beyond limits” is an invitation to play beyond school, work and everyday rules.
-
Durable materials and a design that gets the most out of every part, so the model keeps running like new for a long time.
-
RC models as an excuse to get together. Beginners and seasoned enthusiasts on the same track.

08Blue on black
A lighter blue that doesn't get lost in the dark
The site is dark, like a track in the evening. Overmax's primary blue turned out too dark on a black background, so in the design we used a lighter blue from the car range. Headings got the wide Zalando Sans Expanded typeface, and body text is set in Inter.

09How we worked
Seven laps from workshops to developer files
-
Lap 1/7
Workshops
With the brand team we set the site's goals, its audiences and the character it should have.
-
Lap 2/7
Functional wireframe
Home page, menu, listing, product page, search, comparison tool and space for community content.
-
Lap 3/7
Concept on mobile
The visual direction shown first on the mobile X-Hooligan page, because that's where the most happens.
-
Lap 4/7
Typeface and colour
Zalando Sans Expanded for headings, Inter for text and a lighter blue for dark backgrounds.
-
Lap 5/7
Feedback rounds
The menu as a readable list, carousels with dots on mobile, features that open on tap, icons in a new style.
-
Lap 6/7
States and edge cases
Product unavailable, the view after adding to cart, listings with 2, 3 and 4 models per row, colours for the finished cart.
-
Lap 7/7
Animation and handover
A video showing how the site moves, and a package of files: SVG icons, model photos and backgrounds for the implementation team.
10Live site
A design that's already on the road
The site was built by the Overmax team based on our design. The home page, menu, quiz, categories, product pages and comparison tool are live on overmax.pl today, and the footer carries the credit “Design by fluostudio”.
Beyond limits
Overmax got a complete shop design in which the cars look like they're from an action film and choosing a model stays simple: from the product page on mobile, through the menu and quiz, to the comparison tool with its differences switch.
